Change of hours
The library hours at Colchester are changing again as we adjust to changing staffing levels. As from 14th May the hours will be 09.00 to 17.00 Monday to Thursday and 09.00 to 16.30 on Friday.

Chaos at Colchester
The phone line at Colchester is out of order, although it is still possible to leave voicemail messages which we are able to pick up from another line. You can always email your query - library.services@essexrivers.nhs.uk. BT are aware of the issue and are working hard to fix it.
On a slightly different note we've just taken delivery of a brand new, digital, full colour copier/printer. We are waiting for a new network point so that the machine will print from any PC in the library, a replacement system for charging, and some software to ensure it all runs smoothly. Please bear with us as we work to get it all up and running.

Easter
The library at Colchester General Hospital will be closed over the long Easter weekend - 6th to 9th April inclusive.
Essex Rivers staff can always make use of the PCs in the restaurant at Colchester General Hospital, and, of course, all your online services will available while we're closed.

We're experiencing problems with the library phone line at Colchester. Please feel free to ring the usual number and leave a voicemail message - we're checking for them regularly. Printing at Colchester
Here at Colchester we've been running a two tier system of charges. All copying has to be paid for. Some printing (search results or papers) is free, the rest (CVs, job applications, essays) incurs charges. We've decided to change that.
The current system causes some unfairness - if the journal is in the library it costs to copy it - if it's online its free to print. Some unfairness will continue - there is no mechanism to charge printing to departments as there is with copying. We hope eventually to have a combined copier/printer with one charging system to iron these anomalies out.
The other reason for charging for printing is to encourage you to use the copier which is cheaper to run. And the final reason is that, sadly, some people have been attempting to buck the system and to find ways of avoiding paying what they owe.
So as of Monday 5th February all black and white printing and all copying will be charged at 5p per side. It's not perfect, but hopefully it's a little fairer than the current system.

Change of hours at Colchester
- Sadly, due to a permanent change in the number of staff in the library team, we will no longer be offering a service on Monday evenings.
The new opening hours are as follows:
- Monday 09.00 - 17.00
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 09.00 - 19.00
- Friday 09.00 - 16.30

Evenings are back!
Now that the nights are drawing in where better to study than the library at Colchester? It's warm, bright and peaceful - and open once again until 7pm each Monday to Thursday.
The library opens at 9am and on Fridays it closes at 4.30pm.
