Interview help for doctors
If you've got an interview coming up, here are some resources to help with the preparation:
http://libraries.nelh.nhs.uk/healthManagement/. Particularly useful here are the Hot Topics and Management Briefings which give "what you need to know" summaries on e.g. clinical governance, emergency planning etc. with links to further information.
http://careerfocus.bmjjournals.com/collections/ lists articles in the BMJ Careers supplement by topic - there are pieces on preparing for interview, as well as info on working in particular specialties. You could also try the Hospital Doctor websites: http://www.hospital-doctor.net.
http://www.bma.org.uk - the BMA website, for news and reports - some only accessible if you log in as a member
The relevant Royal College - see http://www.eel.nhs.uk/eel/proforgs.htm for a list.
Don't forget off-line resources - your local NHS library will have books on interview skills, current journals, and sympathetic librarians who can help you find information quickly.

NLH user survey
The National Library for Health website, www.library.nhs.uk, is carrying out a survey of the information needs of NHS staff.
The survey can be accessed at http://www.tfpl.com/questionnaire/nhs/nhs01.cfm and they're interested in the views of all NHS staff - not just clinicians.
They say:
The survey, which covers all NHS staff, is designed to identify the information needs people experience in the daily course of their jobs. The results of the survey will be used to develop the content and services available via the NLH and through local NHS library and information services, with the aim of supporting not only clinical and management decision making, but also continuing professional development and skills training. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
